Wildlife inventories TURTLES The Envirotel 3000 team has extensive expertise in turtle inventories, particularly for the wood turtle (Glyptemys insculpta), on which it has conducted detailed studies in a number of Québec streams. In addition to inventorying several populations of this species, listed as vulnerable in Québec, our work has pinpointed the location of hibernation and egg-laying sites for the species along a number of watercourses. Although these animals are sturdy and particularly long-lived, the species is especially vulnerable because of automobile traffic and the disruption of egg-laying sites. A number of our recommendations are aimed at facilitating the protection of this species, particularly in quarries and sand-pits and along roads that cut through its habitat.
